Bentley Motors went to great heights, literally, for its VIP launch party of its latest family member, the Continental V8 GT.
The automaker used a helicopter to raise a bright red coupe to the SkyLounge, a glazed bridge positioned between two downtown Munich skyscrapers Feb. 8.
The manager of Bentley Munich, Klaus Beckere, organized the event saying, “A dramatic car got the debut we felt it deserved and we took a little bit of our inspiration from Bentley’s iconic ‘Winged B’ emblem. On a practical level the helicopter was the fastest way to get to the rooftop podium.”
The new V8 Continental models officially debuted to the world during the North American International Auto Show last month with both GT coupe and GTC convertible models arriving soon.
Complementing current 6.0-liter W12 powertrains, the new models feature a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 that produces 500hp and 487 lb. ft. of torque and speeds to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. The new V-8 also features variable displacement technology that is capable of shutting off four cylinders under light throttle loads.
The new V8 models offer a 40 percent improvement in fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions.
U.S. pricing has yet to be announced but in the UK the GT V8 coupe can be had for 123,850 Pounds Sterling while the GTC V8 commands 136,250 Quid.
