Earlier this month Honda gave us a preview of one of its concepts destined for the Tokyo Motor Show, the Small Sports EV concept. The concept has been officially unveiled in Tokyo and is now being called the EV-STER concept.

The EV-STER concept is an electric rear-wheel-drive two-seater convertible sports car. It’s body is composed of carbon materials, that made it possible to keep the overall weight of the concept in check. The EV-STER is powered by a 78 horsepower electric motor with lithium-ion batteries. According to Honda the concept can reach 60 km/h in 5.0 seconds, which translates to under 10 seconds to reach 0-60 mph.

One unique characteristic is that the concept characteristics like motor output and suspension settings can be adjusted by the driver depending on their driving style. Also the traditional steering wheel has been replaced by a twin-lever steering system.

Will Honda produce something like this in the future? There are rumors about a new small sports car from Honda coming in 2013 and Honda has announced plans to return to its sporting past.
