Cosmic Crash

Two spiral galaxies 300 million light years from Earth are on a collision course, an eerie preview of what is expected to happen to our own galaxy and neighboring Andromeda in a few billion years or so. The colliding galaxies, which eventually will merge into a single giant galaxy, are nicknamed The Mice because of the long tails of stars and gas being pulled from each by immense gravitational forces.
