Martian Dust Storms

When Mars and Earth passed each other at a relatively close distance of 43 million miles in June 2001, Hubble snapped an image so clear that details of Mars as small as 10 miles across became visible. In addition to the frosty white water-ice clouds, Hubble captured swirling orange dust storms high above the North Pole and spilling out from the Hellas impact basin in the Southern Hemisphere.
