DEVASTATION: KATRINA STRIKES

Workers board up the storefront of VooDoo Mart in the French Quarter in preparation for Hurricane Katrina. By this time, Hurricane Katrina has sustained winds of 115 mph and was expected to make landfall in the Gulf Coast as early as Aug. 29. Katrina had already killed at least seven when it moved through Miami-Dade County in Florida.
