7:00 a.m. — Mir 2 resurfaces. James Cameron reports that he was able to explore the Titanic's Marconi Room but the video quality from the ROV was compromised. Frustration begins to mount. The pressure intensifies on the bot team to make the remotely operated vehicles work.
12:30 p.m. — Another setback. Cameron is displeased with the high-definition material shot last night by Mike DeGruy on Mir 1. The new camera appears to be slow and the image is much darker than he expected. It will not work well on-air.
2:00 p.m. — The Mir meeting. Cameron instructs the team to make several changes on the subs, including changing out the HD camera, moving lights to new positions, adding a new external camera to Mir 2, and mounting another garage so that they can carry three bots on Mir 2. The thinking is that it may take three to get one that works. Cameron is clearly becoming concerned about our ability to explore the wreck and acquire the material we need. The plan now is to dive again tomorrow morning without the video link to once again test the bots.
