Entries: Intro | Day 1: Friday | Day 2: Saturday | Day 3: Sunday |
FRIDAY, APRIL 15, 2005
The first day of shooting — which Mikey started with an early-morning trip to the hotel gym — was the most intense, and oozed past its scheduled 6 p.m. wrap. But it ended with a steak dinner at Epcot's Canadian-themed restaurant Le Cellier, followed by the park's nightly fireworks show. Then, an exhausted Mike turned in for the night.
Most of the day was spent on the closed stunt-show set — and thus, away from the general public — but Mike's Epcot evening was less anonymous. He was recognized both in and out of the restaurant by fans hoping for an autograph or picture. Actually, one family of diners, still clutching their napkins, got up en masse and ran outside after Mike for a photo op, catching up with him on the walkway in front of the restaurant.
Favorite overheard comment: "Act normal!" said by a mother to her fussing 4-year-old at the next table during dinner. This has nothing to do with anything, except that Mike and one of the Discovery Channel people were the only ones in the group to hear it, and they thought it was funny.
