DECK BOSS KEVIN DAVISAge: 31, Home: Riverside, CA
![]() Kevin "Kado" Davis has been fishing for about seven years. He's had a couple of bad breaks at sea, breaking his ankle on the Lucky Lady and actually overboard into the frozen Bering while working on the his first boat The Saga. Kado says he doesn't really think or worry about the accidents any more. Of the crew, he says they're a fun group when things are good — but typically stoic and grumpy after 36 hours of hauling pots.
Skipper Elliott calls Kevin his "go-to guy" on the boat who can take the helm from time to time. Though the skipper doesn't like the term "deck boss," Kado generally fills this role since he knows all the boat inside out and doesn't need orders or directions. Kado will sometimes give Elliott grief about working the deckhands too long but in the end he respects his skipper and knows he's responsible for bringing in the healthy paychecks. Kado is also an aspiring professional poker player and has dreams of going to cooking school.
