krakatoa
Named after the famous volcano, this remarkable weapon belongs to a category of munitions known as modular explosive projectile systems (MEPS). Its modular system - similar to a traditional shaped charge - propels a plate-like "explosively formed projectile" against targets both underwater and on the ground. Krakatoa can penetrate 2 inches of steel at a distance of 100 yards. (Picture: Alford Technology)
uss texas
The latest generation of fast attack submarines, the USS Texas - and the other Virginia class boats - are stealthy multi-mission nuclear-powered vessels designed for a broad spectrum of deep- and shallow-water operations. Some of the special features include hull chambers that can deploy Navy SEAL teams and mini-submarines, extendable "photonics masts," instead of periscopes, and a super-quiet pump-jet propulsion system. B-2 Spirit
Considered the ultimate stealth bomber, the B-2 can fly undetected around the globe and deliver its payloads of both conventional bombs and precision-guided munitions with lethal accuracy. With a price tag of around $2 billion each, the bomber is the most expensive plane ever built - only 21 were constructed. But its capabilities are unrivaled. The B-2 can travel 6,000 miles without refueling and strike 16 different targets in a single pass. (Picture: US Air Force)
.416 Barrett
This new sniper’s round produced by the renowned maker of .50-caliber weapons fires faster and with more accuracy and power than any other type of rifle ammunition. Accurate to 2,500 yards - that’s a mile and a half away! - the .416 can hit home on the first "cold bore shot," giving no warning to the target. Barrett's new M99 rifle, seen here, has recently been configured to handle the new ammunition. (Picture: Barrett Firearms)
