Matt Rogers

The most impressive, really big thing that Matt Rogers has seen recently is Ka, the Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas. He's also fond of the time that he got to operate the world's largest trash compactor, crushing a mobile home in the process.

The host of Discovery Channel's new show Really Big Things, Matt has had some pretty big moments of his own, like winning the 2001 Rose Bowl and becoming one of the top 10 finalists on Season 3 of American Idol.

But no amount of singing could have prepared Rogers for this gig.

"I never know what to expect," he says. "They hand me the show script 10 hours before we shoot and they're like, 'Oh, by the way, we want you to ... "

A former business communications major at the University of Washington and mortgage broker, Rogers says that he's learned more on Really Big Things than he ever did in any class. He is looking forward to seeing even more big things, like the pyramids in Egypt.

Before hosting Really Big Things, Rogers was a co-host for American Idol Extra and worked as a correspondent on several sports and entertainment shows, including Turner Sports College Football, Best Damn Sports Show, Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight. He's also worked in theater and radio.

In his spare time, Rogers, who resides in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., enjoys playing poker, fishing with his dad, and shopping with his wife Teri and 8-month-old son Brayden. One of his goals is to make the 2007 World Series of Poker Championship.
