DOCTOR: VICTOR L. PERRY, M.D.
Dr. Victor L. Perry is director of pediatric epilepsy surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, and specializes in neurosurgical disorders, including brain and spinal cord tumors, spinal dysraphism and other developmental anomalies of the nervous system. His current research includes nervous system development, injury and repair, and the effects of steroidogenic neuromodulators on the developing spinal cord. In association with the UC-SF Fetal Treatment Center, he is involved in the development of clinical protocols for in-utero myelomeningocele (spina bifida) repair. Perry earned his medical degree from Yale Medical School. He completed a seven-year neurosurgical residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. During residency, he completed a National Institutes of Health-sponsored neuro-oncology fellowship in the Hunterian Laboratory at Johns Hopkins under the directorship of Dr. Henry Brem. He served as assistant chief of service in his final year of residency training, which was followed by a one-year fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Perry is an assistant professor of neurological surgery and pediatrics.
Dr. Perry is one of nine brothers and sisters, most of whom are physicians. He is an avid runner, having participated in several marathons.
