Suresh, 22, comes from the village of Chandrala Pada Mandal, about 250 miles east of Hyderabad and the GSR Hospital. He was born with a rare facial cleft; however, due to the size of his village, he did not know he had a major deformity until the age of 18, when he first set foot outside his town and into a thriving society. Suresh enrolled himself in a local college at the age of 21, but dropped out after one year due to constant taunting and ridicule. Suresh heard about GSR from a newspaper advertisement, contacted them and months later found himself camping out with other patients waiting for their name to be called. Suresh waited for 17 days before his surgery became a reality.
