PATIENT: TONYA BURT

Tonya Burt comes from Lincolnton, a small town in Georgia. A second grade teacher and mother of four, Tonya found herself willing to give a kidney to her father Benny Arrowood. The two were not compatible, and Benny's odds of getting another transplant looked bleak. Tonya discovered Dr. Montgomery's kidney swap program at Johns Hopkins, and soon she traveled to Baltimore with her father to join the kidney program.
