Dorry Segev, M.D., a transplant surgeon at Johns Hopkins, and Sommer Gentry, Ph.D., an applied mathematics professor at the United States Naval Academy, are a husband-and-wife team focused on the application of mathematics to health care. Dr. Segev obtained his background in computer science and electrical engineering from Rice University, his medical degree and surgical training from Johns Hopkins, and is currently supported by a grant from the American Society for Transplant Surgeons. Dr. Gentry earned her master's degree in operations research from Stanford University and her doctoral degree in electrical engineering and computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, under the support of the computational science graduate fellowship. Drs. Segev and Gentry share a grant from the National Center for Supercomputing Applications.
