PATIENT NO. 2: JUMA

Fifteen-year-old Juma, a Sierra Leonean boy, suffers from a case of scoliosis so severe that his spine is crushing his heart and lungs. Arguably the world's top spinal surgeon, Hospital for Special Surgery's Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei is the only person capable of correcting Juma's crippled spine before it kills him.

Juma enjoys singing and hopes to pursue a career in Sierra Leone's Civil Service Ministry.
