Survivorman

SEASON 3 Episode Descriptions

    print

No food, no shelter, no fresh water — one man alone in the wild for seven days with only his wits and stamina to sustain him. Each episode of Survivorman finds survival expert Les Stroud abandoned in a remote location with little more than the clothes on his back — and 50 pounds of camera gear.

In the third season of Survivorman, Stroud travels the world and sets up real-world scenarios in which he must survive. This year Stroud finds himself in: the frigid Arctic tundra, where he finds a clever way to start a fire; Temagami inCanada, where SAR (Search and Rescue) is deployed to findhim; the unforgiving Australian Outback, where temperatures can fluctuate drastically and water is sparse; Papua New Guinea, one of the world’s least explored countries, where undiscovered plant and animal species are thought to exist; the rugged Sierra Nevada, where he gets lost hiking; and Colorado, w here he has to find food and water for himself and his horses.

Sierra Nevada
Premieres Fri, Nov. 7, at 9 p.m. ET/PT

The California Gold Rush drew people from all over the world to the rugged Sierra Nevadas. Now it’s a hiker’s dream -- and still attracting visitors from across the globe. You can easily hike for miles and miles here. The problem is … it’s just as easy to get lost. Les finds himself in the predicament of a lost hiker. Traveling with a typical “day hiker” pack, which contains provisions for an overnight stay only, Les must make the most of what he’s brought with him and scrounge the rest.

Fortunate to have a tent, he still needs to find nourishment without stumbling into poison oak, which abounds in this area. Miner’s lettuce, wild onions, manzanita flowers, pine buds and acorns are but a few of the local flora he can eat.

As night falls, it’s time for fire and Les makes short use of his flashlight, turning this battery-powered utility into a real “torch.”

As the seventh day of his ordeal dawns, the local search-and-rescue unit takes to the air and land to try and find Les. Truly lost at this point, Les could be in real trouble if they don't find him …

TV Guide:
It's easy to lose your way while hiking in the Sierra Nevadas. On this episode, Les takes on the role of "lost hiker" and must survive in these beautiful but inhospitable mountains. Eventually, the local search-and-rescue team is called in to find him.
