Call it what you will -- mantrip, mancation -- it's a men-only adventure. You've seen these trips in the movies. In "Sideways," two bachelors explore wine-tasting country before one of them gets married. In "City Slickers," three friends celebrate a 40th birthday by herding cattle at a dude ranch.
The point of these adventures isn't to meet women. It's about doing "guy things" with the guys -- the male version of the spa vacation or girlfriend getaway, only with one big difference. When girls get away, they tend to plan a few activities like massages, shopping, or a visit to a museum. But those activities are really just a cover for what women really enjoy -- nonstop chatter.
Men, on the other hand -- the less chatty sex -- plan adventure-packed outings where there's little opportunity to talk about much besides what they're experiencing. These getaways are intense, action-packed and often contain "bucket list" goals.
