Even in his 50s, there’s no holding George Hood back.

The Aurora, Ill. resident — who turned 54 today — set a new Guinness World Record for the static abdominal hold, or plank, over the weekend, the Daily Herald reported. The former Marine and retired Drug Enforcement Administration agent supported his body weight in a straight line from forearms to toes for 1 hour, 20 minutes and 5.01 seconds, besting the previous record of 50 minutes, 11.21 seconds by about half an hour.

This isn’t Hood’s first record. The personal trainer had held three world records for stationary biking. In November 2010, he spent 222 hours, 22 minutes and 22 seconds on a bike, a record broken by two hours half a year later.

“This is about a guy like me, retired, inspiring people and changing lives,” he told the Daily Herald.

If that doesn’t inspire you to get off the couch, maybe this will: A study found that (shocker!) sitting can make you fat.
