10 Fastest Street-legal Motorcycles

Bring a few street bike riders together and they can argue the merit of what's the fastest motorcycle for hours or even days on end. Face it, speed is an equation with an elusive answer. Is it judged as flat-out track velocity, a 0 to 60-mile per hour (0 to 96.6-kilometer per hour) measure, for instance, or is the quarter-mile run time more important? And how is it weighed against handling? What about the new loose industry agreement to limit a bike to 186 miles per hour (299.3 kilometers per hour)? Is top speed judged with a showroom-stock model or can a savvy rider tune and turbo the engine to its limits?
Even with those largely unanswerable questions, there is a stable of generally acknowledged "fastest" motorcycles. Within that stable there are several standouts and a couple of models where argument over whether they are the fastest is simply not justified — they're just flat-out fast.
