'Petit Spot'
A robot arm grabs a sample from a so-called 'petit spot' volcano on the floor of the northwestern Pacific Ocean. A new study finds that such small, undersea volcanoes may actually be fed from an area that is between the crust and underlying mantel and is not fed by deeper mantle plumes.
