Modern Beetles Don't Size Up

Modern Beetles Don't Size Up
The modern beetle species  Tenebrio molitor,  pictured here in an X-ray image, reaches about 0.5 inches in length. Paleozoic-era insects could be ten times that size thanks to their oxygen-rich environment, according to a new study. The researchers collected X-ray data on modern insects with the X-ray Operations and Research beamline 1-ID at the Advanced Photon Source, Argonne National Laboratory, supported by the U. S. Department of Energy
