A Harried History
Glass bottles and buttons on display during a news conference at the intersection of 28th and L Street near Sutter's Fort where human remains believed to date to the Gold Rush era were found by construction workers excavating under the street in Sacramento, Calif., on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007. A human skeleton, with shreds of "Western-style clothing" still visible, could be part of Sutter's Fort cemetery that dates to the 1840's.
