Similar fuel-efficient cars will vie for a $10 million cash prize next year in the Automotive X Prize. In Detroit, the X Prize Foundation issued a call for proposals from cities wanting to host the contest. Five venues will be selected for preliminary runs, which begin in 2009, and another five for the finals in 2010.
