The Incredible Shrinking Shark?
A whale shark, nearly 20 feet long, swims near the surface of the plankton-rich water of Donsol, Philippines in May 2007. The whale shark population has fallen by approximately 40 percent over the past decade, suggests a new study, and has been so exploited that the creatures' average length has shrunk by more than 6 feet.
