Thanksgiving Gathering
In a rare alignment, the crescent moon, and the planets Venus, center and Jupiter shine above a farmhouse in the eastern pre-dawn sky on Nov. 10, 2004, in Brunswick, Maine. The contrail of a southbound jet bisects the scene. On Thursday and Friday the two planets will appear at their closest, less than one degree apart, although they are in fact separated by about 462 million miles. |
