Mystery Light
While conducting a routine search for distant supernovae, astronomers observed a bright burst of light that they can't account for (pictured here on right). The Hubble Space Telescope first imaged the light on Feb. 21, 2006. It brightened for the next 100 days and then faded into oblivion. Astronomers speaking last week at the American Astronomical Society meeting in California say it is unlike anything previously observed. | Discovery News Video
