Rocks Doing Their Part
A limestone pile at the base of Turtle Mountain, Alberta. Rocks with high concentrations of magnesium readily react with carbon dioxide to produce a stable, solid mineral called magnesium carbonate, effectively sucking carbon dioxide out of the air. Because of their chemical makeup, when the rocks are exposed to carbon dioxide, they form common limestone and chalk. | Discovery News Video
