Blood Falls
Iron oxides stain the front of the Taylor Glacier, McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica, forming a feature commonly referred to as Blood Falls. The iron comes from ancient subglacial brine that occasionally oozes to the surface. Outflow collected at Blood Falls revealed that a unique ecosystem harbors a community of microbes that has been isolated for at least 1.5 million years. | Discovery News Video
