The boulder-strewn field of red rocks reaches to the horizon nearly two miles from Viking 2 on Mars' Utopian Plain. Viking 2 landed on Mars on Sept. 3,1976, and, in light of recent discoveries, scientists now think that if the lander had just dug down into the soil a few more inches, it would have hit nearly pure frozen water.| Discovery News Video
