Fidel Castro
Cuban leader Fidel Castro greets the Pope after a historic mass in Havana's Plaza of the Revolution on Jan. 25, 1998. At the last and biggest mass of his five-day pilgrimage to Cuba, John Paul called Sunday for the creation in communist Cuba of a new society offering "peace, justice and freedom," but warned of the dangers of capitalism.
