At long last, there’s no pity party on the Gold Rush Aftershow, at least not for the Hoffman team. Todd, Jack and their boys have come a long way and rightly deserve to bask in a little glory after their breakthrough moment in last week’s In The Black.
Especially when the shine includes sincere praise from Christo Doyle who’s been almost merciless with their setbacks over the past three months – just as he needed to be.
On the other hand, poor Parker probably deserved more slack, not for his work ethic but for his age. Case in point: how many self-confident teenagers like to admit that their elders are right – especially on camera?
Watch and see what you think:
Looking back, maybe we were all fooled a little by Todd’s bravado about vast riches just around the corner. But maybe that’s exactly the swagger these guys needed to stay in the game.
They are, after all, just a start-up company in their second year who turned a little profit.
And that’s a mighty fine slice of the American dream.
