This morning, I saw Grant Tweeted: “Up at 5:30am to catch a morning flight to PHL for #PunkinChunkin this weekend!” Followed by: “Reviewing my #PunkinChunkin info packet as we wait for departure. I’m covering trebuchets and catapults.”
Then I noticed Tory’s Tweet: “Heading to #PunkinChunkin w/ @KariByron & @grantimahara! Any sport that turns a squash into a lethal projectile is my kinda sport.”
And last but not least, from Kari: “I don’t think I am prepared for how cold and muddy #PunkinChunkin will be.”
Good grief, I thought. They’re all sitting at the airport together, Tweeting about Punkin Chunkin. Is it that time already? Doesn’t Punkin Chunkin usually air on THANKSGIVING?
Clearly I need to look at calendar more often, because this weekend in Delaware it is indeed Punkin Chunkin time, hosted by Kari Byron, Grant Imahara and Tory Belleci. (Last year Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage did the hosting honors.) And the two-hour special airs in just under three weeks, on Thanksgiving Day.
So MY suggestion is that you follow Kari, Grant and Tory on Twitter this weekend, check out the Punkin Chunkin fan site for more Punkin Chunkin goodness, and tune in to the two-hour special on Thursday, Nov. 24, at 8 p.m. on Science and Discovery.
And in the meantime, I’m going to familiarize myself with the date, because clearly I’m WAY off. Next thing I know we’ll be turning the clocks back an hour.
