Braun Ferry Rocket
Wernher Von
Braun, designer of the German V-2 rocket, also dreamed up plenty of spaceships
in his day -- including the Saturn V launch system that made it possible for
Americans to step onto the moon.
But one
that never left the drawing board was this three-stage "ferry rocket."
Collier's Magazine ran the drawing on the cover of a 1952 issue touting "Man
Will Conquer Space Soon".
So far, the difficulty of space travel is the only thing conquering anyone.
