5. ALBERT EINSTEIN
No list like this would be complete without Einstein, especially for a physics-minded inventor like Kamen. Einstein's ingenious work, which included developing the theory of relativity, led him to a Nobel Prize in physics in 1921. "He figured out the final link here about space, time and the environment we live in," Dean says. The Segway inventor also shares Einstein's fascination with movement. In 1930, Einstein famously wrote in a letter to his son Eduard, "Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving."
