Dr. Smith has more than 30 years professional experience in Information Systems Management, Applications Systems Development, Information Systems Planning, Information Systems Requirements, Hardware and Software Evaluations and Client Education and Training. Dr. Smith's experience spans a variety of industries including wholesale distribution, food service, process manufacturing, professional services, oil and gas, and governmental agencies. His functional experience in both mainframe and client/server environments includes project management, custom application design and development, data base design, data modeling, CASE tool utilization, conversions, user requirements analysis, system implementation and training. Dr. Smith has assisted clients in solving a variety of business problems including MIS staff and organizational evaluations, requirements planning, development of requests for proposals, disaster recovery and business resumption plans, systems analysis, design, project management, and implementation. He is currently the Dean for the College of Information Systems and Technology for the University of Phoenix as well as an Online campus faculty member. In May 2011, Dr. Smith participated on a working group panel for President Obama's Council of Advisors for Science and Technology.
