Curiosity Expert: Eric Mantion
Social Media Strategist, Intel
Eric is the "Social Media Strategist" for Intel's Embedded effort, which is the ≈$1B+ that Intel earns from things that aren't a "laptop, desktop, or server." He owns the Embedded Community (both Blogs & Forum areas), Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, coordinating all of the Embassadors, and any social media support desired at trade shows. Prior to joining Intel in 2005, Eric was a Senior Analyst with a market research firm called In-Stat where he covered a wide range of technology topics ranging from Network Processors to Switch Fabrics to Online Gaming. He joined In-Stat after spending 2 years as a PME for a small silicon company in California.
Before his civilian career, Eric spent 7 years in the Navy, with a speciality in Nuclear Submarines and served on board the USS Santa Fe and attached to SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team ONE in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He left the Navy as a Lieutenant and was awarded the Naval Achievement Medal, twice. LT Mantion started his Naval career after graduating from the US Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics.
In whatever spare time he has, Eric loves spending it with his family, working out, tinkering with computers, dabbling with Linux, exploring Android, and playing video games (especially StarCraft II).
