Senior Research Scientist, Intel Research Photonics Technology Lab
Ling Liao is a senior research scientist in the Photonics Technology Lab of Intel Research. She leads a research team focused on the development of silicon-based optical modulators and transmitters for use in future data center communication and high performance computing. Her work has been published or featured in numerous prestigious journals including Nature, Science and the Journal of Quantum Electronics. She was honored in 2006 by MIT Technology Review as a member of TR35, a group of 35 young innovators whose work the renowned magazine believed was changing the world. Ling earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Surrey in England.
