Todd's 11-year-old son Hunter is the oldest of the three boys who accompanied their fathers to Alaska when they first set out for Porcupine Creek. Eventually, 10 children would come to stay at the camp with their families to live, learn and often work.

Jim Thurber's son Nathan (l.) and Todd's nephew Sterling Anderson joined the crew later in the season. Both 17-year-olds proved to be solid, hard workers who helped out Harness with lots of the labor he couldn't do because of his disability.
