Sergeant Bryan Quenell
Drug Enforcement Unit
Law enforcement is a tradition in Quenell’s family. His grandfather was a sergeant with Eureka PD and his father is currently a detective with HCSO. When Quenell was a toddler he remembers seeing his father come home in his uniform with his patrol car and knowing right then that he wanted to be just like him. And Quenell did just that, joining HCSO right out of high school. He now serves as a firearms instructor, a Taser instructor, and a rappel master. He runs the “Special Services Unit,” which includes the Drug Enforcement Unit that’s tasked with the eradication of marijuana. The unit also includes Search and Rescue, Boating Safety, Livestock Patrol, Rural Crime Patrol, and SWAT. Quenell loves outdoor pastimes like hunting, fishing, and camping. His wife also works for Humboldt County as a probation officer.
