Deputy Greg Musson

Drug Enforcement Unit

Deputy Musson’s father worked briefly as a deputy in Humboldt County when Musson was a baby, but it would be many years before Musson would follow in his tracks. Before becoming a deputy, Musson served in the U.S. Army as a communications officer. After his tour was up, he went to work for a lumber company in Humboldt and thought he’d work there for the rest of his life. The mill eventually closed, though, and Musson had to find a new career. He debated between nursing school and the police academy; policing won out. He and Deputy Fulton went through the academy together. Musson subsequently worked for both the Ferndale and Rio Dell police departments before joining HCSO. He is now a member of the Drug Enforcement Unit as well as the SWAT team where he serves as the team breacher. According to Quenell, there hasn’t been a door yet that Musson couldn’t knock down. He is also the Rural Patrol deputy, as well as the defensive tactics instructor. In his free time Musson enjoys riding motorcycles with his wife.
