Bryan Clay

Olympic Gold-Medal-Winning Decathlete

The Big Brain Theory: Pure Genius Guest Expert

Since 2002, the only seasons when Bryan Clay wasn’t ranked as one of the top two athletes in the United States in the decathlon were those in which he was injured. Once called “The World’s Greatest Athlete,” Bryan is the 2008 Summer Olympic champion for the decathlon as well as the 2005 World Champion. His ’08 gold win came with a victory margin of 240 points, the largest since 1972.

He is one of two Olympians featured on a special edition post-Beijing Olympics Wheaties cereal box. After a hamstring injury in 2009, he returned to action and won the men’s heptathlon at the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships.
