Buzz Aldrin
NASA Astronaut on Apollo XI, Second Man to walk on the Moon
Buzz Aldrin is best known as the second man to set foot onthe Moon. Having received his undergraduate education at West Point, he flew Sabre Jets in 66 combat missions in Korea. He has also earned a doctorate in Astronautics from MIT in Manned Space Rendezvous. In 1963, Aldrin joined the first NASA crew to orbit the earth and was assigned as the lunar module pilot on Apollo 11, the historic first lunar landing mission in July 1969. He has authored two books based on his experience and has received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Aldrin continues to work towards sustained space exploration and his concept of perpetual cycling orbits between the Earth and Mars with his unique system called the Aldrin Cycler as outlined in his new book, "Mission to Mars."
