Survival Tactics - Episode 3VELOCIRAPTOR - Early Late Cretaceous, 75 million years ago, Mongolia
A brilliantly feathered and heavily armed Velociraptor displays its distinctive "manus" or three-clawed hands and stiffened, extended tail. Contrary to the reconstruction of Velociraptor made famous in the movie JURASSIC PARK, these predators were feathered and no more than two feet high and six feet long. But still extremely deadly, especially in packs!
WHAT THE SHOW EXPERT SAYS: "These are an amazing group of carnivorous dinosaurs. Large brained, agile, and armed with a blade like claw on the foot which we know from the actual evidence from Mongolia and elsewhere was used to rip open their prey. These would be dinosaurs I would not want to meet in a dark alley or let's face it, I wouldn't want meet them out in the open with a lot of sunlight. These were dangerous little dinosaurs..."
