They can't fit our fancy-shmancy Top Ten page, but they are critical nonetheless. They are Doug Anderson's life lessons.
10. Girls like you more when you're on TV.
9. I have learned to be truly appreciative of all the blessings I've got in life. From hot water to a full stomach, there is so much that many of us overlook that half the world would kill for.
8. I don't know if this is true for everyone else, but for me the surest route to contentment is to say screw everything else and do what I love, regardless of consequence.
7. I have something to learn from everyone. Every man, woman and child on earth has something to teach; we just have to be open enough to learn.
6. Getting (fill in the blank with your favorite past-tense fighting verb) doesn't hurt as bad as you'd think.
5. If nothing else works, try again. For me, this year has absolutely proven the value of perseverance. Talent and skill may not bring a mountain down, but erosion eventually will.
4. Life is a fight. My favorite thing about our show is that everyone can relate to it, whether they've physically fought or not. Life is a struggle -- people battle against sickness and we fight to make ends meet, for education, for the welfare of our families, for the opportunity to improve. Every day, every one of us battles in our own way.
3. No matter how different people are around the world, at our cores we're all the same. It's the same heartaches, motivation and desires that drive the people in Korea, France, Brazil and Iraq. No matter how opposite our cultures may be, we're all human and we'll always be more alike than we are different.
2. Courage isn't the absence of fear ... it's the mastery of it.
1. I'd rather fail miserably at something great than succeed at never trying.
