EPISODE GUIDE: SEASON 3![]() Fourth-generation logger Bobby Goodson is one of the rare breed of swamp loggers working the murky, dangerous swamps of North Carolina in search of high-value timber for everything from paper products to construction-grade lumber. This family-owned operation employs nearly a dozen swamp veterans, including Bobby's son, Justin Goodson, and brother-in-law, David Mueller.
As the company works through the cold, wet winter and into the scorching summer, they battle extreme conditions, overcome mechanical breakdowns, face personal health crises, and deal with the constant push to grow the business during a time of economic uncertainty. Through the ups and downs, the crew of Goodson's All-Terrain Logging works together to maintain their reputation of being the best swamp loggers around.
Episode 1 — Snow Days — Premiere: June 17, 2011
WATCH VIDEO! Bobby Goodson is wrapping up operation on his current tract and getting ready to move to a fresh swamp. Before the move, Bobby's first order of business is welcoming a new crewmember to his team. William "Big Red" Woodcock's first day will be trial by fire as the crew is pushing hard to get the last remaining logs out of the swamp. Over at the next tract, Simitrio Ruiz (Bobby's main tree stumper) is working hard to get a head start laying down the all-important log road. While cutting on the backup stumper, Simitrio accidently hits a hidden piece of metal left over from loggers a century ago, which renders the backup useless. Episode 2 — Road Warriors — Premiere: June 24, 2011 WATCH VIDEO! After weeks of bad weather the Goodson All-Terrain crew is ready for a break, but it doesn't look like they are going to get one this week. The snow and rain have left the Buckle Tract a muddy mess, with trucks sliding all over the road keeping them from getting to the mills. But in the swamp logging tradition the crew forges on, getting as much wood out as possible. Bobby hopes Corbett Timber will agree to let him finish this tract despite the abysmal road conditions. However, the Buckle Tract landowners won't let Bobby work on the road leaving his hands tied. Bobby hates the idea of paying for a move knowing he will have to return at some point to finish cutting this tract. Episode 3 — Land Dispute — Premiere: July 1, 2011 WATCH VIDEO! Bobby and his crew have been battling the swamp for weeks. After a treacherous 5-mile road crippled the truckers, Corbett timber opened a shortcut out of the swamp. The truckers started to get loads out to the mill, but for the 8th week in a row, the crew was unable to reach the elusive 100-load goal. Monday morning, Justin informs the crew that after 8 weeks of dismal load counts, they have to average 18 loads a day. At the Goodson shop, Bobby is surprised to learn that his main mechanic Doug, is leaving the swamp for another job. Doug informs Bobby that he is leaving in a week to work at a job that is less stressful and easier on his body. Episode 4 — Hell of a Week — Premiere: July 8, 2011 WATCH VIDEO! With things finally turning around in the swamp Bobby Goodson and the crew of Goodson's All-Terrain are approaching the end of their run on the Smith Tract and things have been going well. Bobby makes his health a priority and starts a new work out plan and Dave gets a new, state-of-the-art grill that the whole crew can enjoy. But before the Goodson crew can get too relaxed they get word that the mills are filling with wood and quotas are imminent, so they hustle to get as many loads in as they can before a quota or a shut-down kicks in. Episode 5 — Crisis of Faith — Premiere: July 15, 2011 WATCH VIDEO! It's Sunday afternoon in Wilmington, North Carolina and Bobby's truck driver Bo is in the hospital with an infection in his gallbladder. As he waits to undergo surgery his kids call to wish him well. After surgery, the Dr comes out to let the family know that Bo is going to be admitted to the ICU and will be on a ventilator. Episode 6 — All In — Premiere: July 22, 2011 With the dry weather the crew of Goodson's All-Terrain is optimistic that they will have a successful week and get their 100 loads. Bobby is focused on replacing the service truck. Justin has been bugging Bobby about getting a new one for a while, and even though they have seen a truck that interests them it is only 2-wheel drive which isn't of much use in the swamp. But Bobby finally finds a solution; an aftermarket all-wheel drive system that can be retrofitted to the service truck. But to see the setup he has to travel to the CONEXPO convention in Las Vegas. With all the swamp business in order, Bobby takes time to visit Bo, one of his drivers who is recovering at home following a recent medical crisis. Episode 7 — Pulp Friction — Premiere: July 29, 2011 It's the start of a new week on the Buckle Tract and trucker E.J arrives early to find his spot trailers empty, leaving him upset and losing several loads for the day. The rest of the crew arrives and soon after, Lesley Davis from Corbett Timber stops by to inform Bobby about the week's pulpwood mill restrictions. Bobby decides to only haul pulpwood, until the mill cuts them off. The day is almost completed when Dave's grapple cracks and Bobby is forced to replace it with an inferior older, smaller grapple. |
