Meet Jim GibeautSenior Survey Technician/Navigator
About OdysseyMeet the CrewWith an undergraduate degree from Ohio State University, Jim spent seven years at Columbus Temperature Control, starting as a warehouse worker and ending up as Operations Manager. Seeking a more adventurous career path, Jim’s AS degree as a commercial diver from Santa Barbara City College brought him to Odyssey Marine in 1998. In 2002 he spent six weeks in ROV school at Oceaneering’s training center in Louisiana.
At Odyssey for 11 years, Jim knows where almost every wire on the Explorer begins and ends! Given time and the right tools, he can fix just about anything. Aboard the Explorer, Jim spends a good deal of time taking care of the crews well being by keeping the guys supplied with books and DVD’s, maintaining the gym and making sure the on-line room candy dish is full.
Jim’s hobbies include scuba diving, putting together puzzles, watching movies and cooking. He lives in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio and most of his time off the ship is spent traveling around the world, visiting friends and family.
