 About OdysseyMeet the CrewWith a gruff exterior and “can-do” attitude, Mark Martin may upset the applecart once in a while, but he knows how to get things done. While Mark enjoys practical jokes and is always looking for a laugh, he’ll do whatever is needed to take care of his crew.
As a retired U.S. Navy submariner, diver, manned deep-submersible pilot and project manager, Mark has more than 30 years of offshore experience. He spent much of his time in the Navy as a member of the elite Submarine Special Projects, Deep Submergence and Naval Special Warfare Support communities. He’s had a diverse career, holding various at-sea and ashore senior management positions, and has been a member of numerous high-profile and cutting-edge deep-ocean expeditions. Mark and Tom Dettweiler have worked closely together on a number of projects over the years.
When he is not at sea, Mark resides in Tampa, Fla., with his wife, Beth, and their three lively and lovely daughters. He enjoys fishing with his girls, woodworking and ice hockey.
