The "1-Unit" CrewMEET P.J. AUGUSTINE P.J. Augustine was born and raised in the hard streets of Philly. Before he became "The King" of wreck chasing, P.J. was a high-school football star with the North West Raiders. P.J. may now be co-owner of the 1 Unit Tow Team, but his early days of wreck chasing were quite different. Fifteen years ago, it was just him and his one truck. He ate and slept in his tow truck to support his wife and kids. Over the years of success, his business expanded from that single tow truck to a fleet of more than 22 trucks. P.J. loves wreck chasing and is so addicted to the adrenaline rush of being the "first on a scene," he can't imagine doing any other job. He owns "1-Unit" towing with Mickey — they are veteran wreck chasers. P.J. captains a 16-person crew, 10-vehicle fleet servicing West Philadelphia. He averages 150 tows a week and pulls in between 25-30 wrecks. P.J. has been wreck chasing since 1996. P.J. is married to Pam, head of 1 Unit's "Tow Divas." Together, they have 10 kids and five grandchildren. Two of his sons, Jamal and Phil, help him run the family business. In his free time, he loves to support his girls in cheerleading competitions and his 15-year-old all-star quarterback son in high-school football games. |
